We went in Tulum with Hélène and it was a last-minute trip, we were in New York and our plans were canceled. Tulum is a place that the both of us really wanted to discover, and Hélène was able to convince me very quickly to choose this place for our holidays. And just like that, we were gone on the Mexican roads!
I loved Tulum, I found a lot of similarity with Bali, but in a Mexican version. The very bohemian and gypsy spirit of the city is a so adorable, Tulum is filled with vegan establishments, cute little shops with handmade stuff, yoga and zen attitude, we were really out of place and we felt the good mood of the people who were here, locals and tourists alike.
The things to do in Tulum :
📍Ruinas Maya – It was so incredible to discover such old and important ruines like this, the Maya were an incredible community and I loved learning a bit more about them.
📍Gran Cenote – Tulum is famous for the cenote, it’s really a must to go to one of them, we did the Gran Cenote in the morning right at the opening and we were able to enjoy this beautiful place without to much people. However be careful with the mosquito bites !
📍Kin Toh restaurant – In the famous Azulik hotel, you can have a drink of eat direct in a tree.
📍Matcha Mama – A small and cute coffee shop on the road where I used to drink an Açai juice a few mornings.
📍Coco Tulum beach club – The perfect club to enjoy a drink in the sun with good music.
We stayed in two different places:
📍Casa Malca, a hotel on the beach with beautiful private rooms and a great atmosphere.
📍The Playaakun, a private luxury villa with a very intimate concept, we immediately felt like at home. We met a couple of Americans with whom we spent some wonderful evenings and we took them with us in our adventures during the day.
